Come and find out about our recent finds on excavation in Southampton. We excavated at Roman Clausentum, and found Roman coins and Samian pottery from the site. How was Samian ware made, you ask? Well, it wasn't wheel-thrown but was made using moulds, like some other forms of pottery including lamps. We'll be making some of these and you can give it a try, and see how a Roman lamp worked.
