The Biomedical Imaging Unit (BIU) at the University of Southampton has a long and successful history of collaboration with professional artists who use our microscopes to create and inspire artworks in a variety of media as well as through projections and installations.
In the past we have hosted artists in residence and we welcome enquiries from artists and students who are interested in using our facilities for one-off projects, commissions and portfolios.
This exhibit aims to celebrate past collaborations and inspire future works and new connections within the art community. Play with one of our light microscopes, engage in live demonstrations of colouring images from our Scanning Electron Microscope and explore the art.
