How does a drawing on paper become a digital object you can spin, zoom and share? In this hands-on activity, you'll find out by doing it yourself.
Start with pencils and a printed zebra template, inspired by Zebraversity, the university's very own Zany Zebra, who has called Highfield Campus home since Marwell's 2016 sculpture trail. Colour her however you like: realistic stripes, rainbow patterns, or something entirely your own. Then watch as your artwork is captured and transformed into a fully interactive 3D model, ready to explore on screen from every angle.
Along the way, you'll get a friendly introduction to digital heritage: the same techniques used to digitise the sculptures, paintings and objects in the University Art Collection, including those featured on the Library's campus Sculpture Trail. Why not follow the trail afterwards and meet the artworks in person?
No technical knowledge or artistic skill is required. You'll leave having made something genuinely yours, and with a new appreciation for how the physical and digital worlds meet.
