IMAGE COPYRIGHT African Activities The Nightjar bird is often hidden from view, most people are only aware of its presence through its unique call. As we follow its migration between West Africa and the New Forest, we witness a remarkable journey that connects landscapes and people.
Through creativity, art and a celebration of cultures, The Nightjar Project aims to raise the visibility of both long-settled and newly arrived communities across the New Forest. We believe the marriage of ecology and the lived experience of communities is central to protecting the landscape and all its inhabitants.
Through sharing our stories, we find connection. By listening to the lived experience of others we build bridges across cultures and perceived differences.
We invite you to create with The Nightjar Project, to turn a plastic milk bottle into a bird, to tell us your story of belonging, and to join us in honouring both cultures that the Nightjar calls home. Become part of a creative movement to embody the Nightjars migration story and celebrate its journey.
The Nightjar sees no borders - should humanity?
