Poetic Science 4: Expressions of Interest Callout!
Online
Age suitable for:
- 18+ only
In partnership with John Hansard Gallery, the Public Engagement with Research unit (PERu) and Southampton Institute for Arts and Humanities, invites research scientists, post-doctoral researchers and postgraduate students working across a range of science disciplines and in multidisciplinary contexts to take part in a programme bringing together science and poetry.
With the aim of nurturing an environment of multidisciplinary collaboration and connectivity, this year, Poetic Science is seeking expressions of interest from community-based researchers and/or citizen scientists as well as University postgraduate students, post-docs and researchers in the sciences.
Working with renowned writer, Dr Helen Eastman, participants will develop skills in creative writing and communication techniques based on their areas of scientific interest through poetry.
"Poetic Science was an extremely fun and refreshing experience. I thoroughly enjoyed finding ways to express my thoughts and passion for my science using creative language. Since then, I have used poetry in my public engagement and even in outreach classes that I ran with school students before the summer holidays. I would do this again, 100%!" (Poetic Scientist)
Facilitated and supported by Dr Helen Eastman, participants will develop their skills in creative engagement practice, poetry writing and performance.
Participants will access the following bespoke development opportunities between February and March 2025.
You will be asked to commit to:
3 x two-hour online poetry writing workshops with Dr Helen Eastman on Fridays from 17:00-19:00pm on:
