Styling the 80s: Ray Petri
Other
Age suitable for:
- 18+ only
Two complementary 'Styling the Eighties' exhibitions look at the work of two stylists who made their name in the 1980s - Ray Petri and Simon Foxton - and whose collaborative work with photographers, and models was featured in the lifestyle magazines The Face and i-D.
Their images addressed issues around gender, race /ethnicity, class, sexuality and contemporary style so it is fitting that we launch these new exhibitions to celebrate the start of Black History Month.
The exhibitions include original magazines with photo shoots styled by Petri and Foxton and academic texts that have addressed and investigated the work of both these stylists, offering a way of looking at their work in both primary and secondary sources.
Venue: Hartley Library, University of Southampton, University Road (SO17 1BJ).
Location: Level 4 Gallery
